‘Politicians debate over change of name for French Polynesia
(Tahitipresse) – During the last Assembly session Thursday in Papeete, French Polynesia President Oscar Temaru and Opposition leader Edouard Fritch talked about a possible change of name for French Polynesia. A referendum on this issue could be organized, Temaru said.
Fritch, from Gaston Flosse’s pro-autonomy Tahoeraa huiraatira, claimed the name “Maohi Nui” Temaru has been using lately for French Polynesia is improper.
