I was introduced to this book from a very good friend Tarewa, who we meet in Hawaii Nei. A great eye opener to the history of Kanaka Maoli and their fight for self determination separate from that of the United States of America. Its such a good read, already someone has `acquired` my borrowed copy

A bit of background, Noenoe Silva is a professor of Political Studies and Hawaiian Languages at the University of Hawaii in Manoa. `Aloha Betrayed` gives the Hawaiian history of resistance as written in the Hawaiian language, and not written and documented in any english text throughout the history books of Hawaii. This is the first time Hawaiian text has been translated and proves documentation exists that Kanaka Maoli did resist and petition against the annexation of Hawaii to the United States. shot, girl! dad has the book. he forgot to tell you but he’s almost finished it. reckons it just makes him mad to read about what those bastards did and the arrogance they showed in pulling it off. i will read it myself when i get some time. chur!
