‘PULE FAKAMOTU’ celebrating Niue art exhibition

Fakalofa ahi atu PACIFIC SUPERHEROES, in celebration of Niues Constitution Day, Artstation will be exhibiting ‘Pule Fakamotu’ from October 8th-25th 2008. A group exhibition co-curatored by contemporary Niuean artists Cerisse Palalagi and Zora Feilo. ‘Pule Fakamotu’ which means to lead and take charge of your own affairs, brings togeather Auckland based Niuean artists who will explore the theme of Niuean self-governance, with printmaking, painting, photography, multi media and weaving.

Hokule’a Worldwide Voyage

PACIFIC SUPERHEROES waaatttt!!! U heard!!! The Hokule’a ocean voyaging waka from Hawaii that has sailed the pacific ocean many a times since its birth to reinvigorate our celestial navigational skills, history and culture, has put out a challenge in search of a crew for a 3year voyage around the world 100% old skool stlyles!!! Hokule’a (Arcturus) is the star that at its zenith passes directly over Hawaii - ancient Hawaiian navigators used the constellation to find their way home. Hence, “Hoku” - “Le’a” - the star of gladness, a fitting name for this wa’a. This is an historical and life changing event, so y’all better get ya waka on and support the Hokule’a to show the world wat its all about - PACIFIC SUPERHEROES waaatttttt!!!! U heard!!!

‘Villa Maria Estate and Manukau City Council are proud to bring you this outstanding Manukau event and showcase of style and creativity.

Turn fashion design into a cutting-edge art form! We’re on the search for designs with a high level of creativity and couture.

Encouraging the highest standards of design, fashion and cultural interpretation, the awards are open to fashion students and graduates, emerging and established designers and artists from throughout New Zealand.

One-off garments that convey originality, creativity and innovation are invited for entry in Villa Maria Cult-Couture’s six design categories, with $15,000 in prize money.

DZIAH Dance Academy Tour

What up PACIFIC SUPERHEROES its time to put on your dancing shoes and pull out those pingers to support whats all good about South Auckland and Hip Hop Culture. The DZIAH DANCE ACADEMY, straight outta Otara, South Auckland need our help!!!

An opportunity has come up for the academy members to get international exposure, respect and knowledge on the dance stage in Atlanta, USA.

‘Dziah Dance Academy are fundraising to attend the ATLANTA “Culture Shock 2008″ event in October. We are the very first New Zealand showcase attending this prominent event and a rare opportunity like this is not to be missed for New Zealand!

Major fundraising will be taking place in order to get to Atlanta with our team having to fundraise $50,000! Phew!!! Members from each of our elite crews will be selected to represent the Academy in Atlanta, performing alongside some of the best choreographers in the world.

Dance Workshops will be held and Dance Academy’s from all over the world will come together for a week to conference, perform, network, and learn from the best!

OBJECTive Art Awards 2008

 

Okay to all you budding PACIFIC SUPERHEROES into the “OBJECTive” hit dis for your dollar bills dollar bills!!! :) Manuia!!!

Artists and designers are invited to submit new works of object art in ceramics, glass, jewellery, wood metalwork, textiles and furniture. Selected works will feature in an exhibition at the historic Nathan Homestead in Manurewa, Manukau.

This year’s guest selector is internationally respected Auckland glass artist John Penman. Prize-money has increased, with more than $10,000 on offer.

Entries close on 14 September 2008 and the awards night will be held on Friday 26 September 2008 at Nathan Homestead in Manurewa.
